Ebb & Flow Arts

Ebb & Flow Arts

ebbflowensembleEbb & Flow Arts is a not-for-profit corporation founded in 1999. It is directed by Maui composer and pianist, Robert Pollock.

Goals

  • GOAL #1 – To enrich the community by presenting international festivals of excellent quality contemporary music concerts and cutting edge multi media events.
  • GOAL #2 – To educate the children and the general public with school workshops and public performances.
  • GOAL #3 – To break down the barriers between the arts and bridge artistic expressions and cultures.

Now in its twenty-third season

E&FA serves a recognized and documented need in Hawaii’s community.

To date, E&FA has presented one hundred forty-four (144) concert/multi-media events in Maui, Oahu, Kauai, the Big Island, Sacramento, Berkeley, and Oakland, California, Tokyo, Japan, Seoul, South Korea, and Jalapa, Mexico. These events included performances of  five hundred twenty-six (526) works by one hundred sixty-eight (168) composers, ninety-nine (99) world premieres,  one hundred eighty-two (182) Hawai’i premieres,  ten (10) biennial presentations by the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, fourteen (14) international festivals, twenty-two (22) KHPR radio broadcasts, eleven (11), four hour Manao radio broadcasts, six-eight (68) informances, five (5) public library lectures, and one thousand two hundred sixty-seven (1,267) school music lessons. Audiences continue to grow. Often E&FA events fill their venues to capacity or SRO. Estimated total attendance: 33,000, not counting radio audiences – a total estimated 113,000 listeners. E&FA with its international profile and history of achievements, provides concert, education, and recording experiences that rival any on the mainland. Our substantial core audience of repeat attendees for modern music continues to grow.  Like few places on the planet, these magical islands of Hawai’i, inspire singular creations and performances that enrich the community. We attribute E&FA’s two decades of activity to our consistent quality, our laser-like focus on mission, and our guiding principle: Performance is a function of Composition.

We released five commercial CD’s – “Tangled Flow,”  “Solo and Chamber Music by Edward T. Cone, ”Explorations,” and “20 Years of Ebb & Flow Arts.” Our fourth CD comprises music for violin, piano, guitar, vibraphone and electronic sounds. “Premiere Recordings”, our fifth CD was released in August 2021. All five CD’s are available on the Internet.
